The Latest Features Found in iPhone 5

The much anticipated Apple mobile phone device has finally arrived. The iPhone 5 has garnered much attention even before it was released. Read on to see what new features the latest iPhone has.

New design

From a glance, the iPhone 5 design at the front looks like an iPhone 4s. Closer inspection shows that the new design is taller than the previous iPhone design. The iPhone 5 is about 123.8mm tall compared to the iPhone 4s which is about 115.2mm. The iPhone new design allows the incorporation of a 4-inch screen.

The 4-inch screen adds functionality to the increase in size. The increase in length allows an extra space to show five icon rows instead of thefour4 icons rows from previous iPhone and iPod touch screens. The extra space can be taken advantage of while viewing documents, pictures, videos and apps.

The back of the iPhone 5 sports a two toned colour design which looks appeasing and pleasant to the touch. Using a new metal material than the gorilla glass from the last iPhone, it provides an increased resistance to scratches. The new material provides a large factor to the light weight of the iPhone 5.

The Latest Features Found in iPhone 5
The most noticeable difference of the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 4s is the weight. The iPhone 5 weighs only 101.78 grams while the iPhone 4s weigh about 138.91 grams. The iPhone 5 is the thinnest incarnation of the iPhone range, which has a depth of 7.6mm compared to the iPhone 4s which is 9.3mm. The iPhone still has the same round metal buttons for the volume control, the silence switch and the sleep/wake button at the top.

The overall design of the iPhone subtly matches with its competitors’ large phones. The thinness allows ease of holding the device while using the thumb to touch the screen. The durability of the iPhone 5 has also been noted to have improved compared to the iPhone 4s.

Performance and iOS 6

An A6 chip dual core processor is built into the iPhone 5 which is faster than the iPhone 4s' A5 chip. The iPhone 5 is the first apple device to incorporate the A6 chip. The A6 chip is more power efficient than the previous chip. The A6 chip has a 1 GB RAM memory module built in which provides an increase in performance.

The iPhone 5 has the latest iOS 6 operating system. Listed below are some of the latest features of iOS6

● Maps – The map graphics and text show a large amount of detail due to the vector based elements.

● Siri – A new feature which allows you to talk to your iPhone. Although available on the previous iPhone, the new Siri now allows you to open apps find and make reservations to restaurants and post updates to Facebook and Twitter as well as its original functions.

● Panoramic camera – This feature allows you to take a virtual environment photo using your iPhone. You can take a 360 degree photo of your home, office, vacation spots and more. You can also use this feature to take vertical shots to photograph your building, tree and other things.
