Whatever you use your Smartphone for—it can be for personal use or for business use—it is important that you have the best possible handheld device. When purchasing a Smartphone, you must set up standards first by which to measure various devices against, and these standards must reflect your pressing needs or the requirement of your business. This applies whether you will utilize your Smartphone as a basic communication device or an advanced platform by which you can launch the various third party service features provided by phone service providers, RingCentral for example.

If you have already trained your eyes on a Windows Phone, rather than all other Smartphone brands such as the iPhone and Android phones, then you may want to consider those released by the Taiwan-based company HTC. Its Windows Phones rivals up there with the leading Smartphones such as the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820.

In terms of design, the Windows Phone 8X has a flat front, a smooth curving back, and rounded edges. It has a rubbery finish that makes it easier to grasp, though the slightly-pointed edges can feel a little uncomfortable to the touch. It has a thickness of 10mm and 128g, which are better than the other Windows Phones out in the market today. It also comes in various colors such as Flame Red, California Blue, and Limelight Yellow. A letdown when it comes to design is the buttons located on the side and top of the phone, which are difficult to place without looking. The HTC Windows Phone 8X has a unibody build composed of a polycarbonate shell that feels strong.

When it comes to performance, the HTC Windows Phone 8X 1.5GHz features a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor fitted with 1GB of RAM. This means that it matches up to the performance showed by other high-end Windows Phones. You will not also experience lags when opening applications, which is the case with some Lumia Smartphones.

One letdown with the HTC Windows Phone 8X is that it comes only in 16GB model, which is worsened by the fact that it does not have a MicroSD slot for memory expansion. Microsoft offers SkyDrive, however, which can provide an additional storage capacity of 7GB. Another disappointment is the 6.7Wh battery that can last only a day with a little over 10 percent of juice remaining with regular use.

HTC Windows 8X Specifications Review

What we can write home about the Windows Phone 8X is its excellent display quality. Boasting a 720 x 1280p resolution for its 4.3” panel, giving it an astounding 342ppi pixel density, HTC Windows Phone 8X’s display is even better than the Lumia 920 and the iPhone 5 though the colors are duller. There are also a number of options for connectivity, such as microUSB, headphone jack, NFC, Bluetooth 3.1 and Wi-Fi. Its camera is also respectable, boasting an 8MP rear-facing camera that is coupled with an LED flash. It also has a 2.1MP front-facing camera, which is one of the best there is.

Just like the HTC Windows Phone 8S, the Windows Phone 8X features a more customizable Start Screen, as well as the Rooms feature for content sharing in the People Hub, as well as the Kids Corner, which is a child-friendly mode for the Smartphone. The problem is that there is a limited selection of apps in the content store, which is the case with Windows-run Smartphones.
